PacifiClean Environmental of Washington Identifies Alternate Sites for Kittitas County Organics Processing Facility

Seeking Optimal Location to Build the Region’s Most Environmentally Advanced Facility

Spokane, WA  – March 22, 2013 – PacifiClean Environmental of Washington, a northwest regional leader in state-of-the-art sustainable organics management solutions, announced today in a letter sent to Kittitas County that they have withdrawn their application to build an organics processing facility in the Elk Heights area of Kittitas County. Recently, PacifiClean submitted a conditional use permit application to the County of Kittitas for the Elk Heights site.  Alternatively, they have now identified alternate sites that should eliminate the environmental and logistical impacts.

“Our intent is to be a good neighbor, a good employer and a good member of the business community of Kittitas County,” said Larry Condon, PacifiClean partner and General Manager.  “As the permitting process moved forward, we determined that the best path forward is to review selected alternate sites in order to secure the optimal location to build the region’s most environmentally advanced organics processing facility.”

In a recent letter to PacifiClean Environmental of Washington from Doc Hansen, Planning Official for Kittitas County, he indicated that “there are over 400 acres of industrial land within Kittitas County” and that “would not have the same environmental impact as upon the site that has been chosen.”  In response, Larry Condon indicated that “PacifiClean has engaged in further discussions with Kittitas County and has identified three alternative sites that are not within the Elk Heights area.  All of the alternative sites should eliminate the environmental and logistical impacts, as well as the Kittitas County and community concerns.  We expect to utilize a sizeable portion of the previously submitted materials and to remain on track, and on schedule, for the permitting and construction of the facility.  We look forward to working with the Kittitas County officials on bringing this enterprise to their community.”

About PacifiClean Environmental of Washington

Founded in 2011, PacifiClean Environmental of Washington has emerged as a northwest regional leader in state-of-the-art sustainable organics management solutions.  Their vision is to design, develop and operate the most environmentally advanced regional organics processing facility.  The planned Kittitas County facility is scalable in design with a phased build-out and has several years of active planning and decades of hand-on organics management experience behind it.  It will serve the region’s full-range of organics materials – from Kittitas County, to communities in Central and Eastern Washington, to Puget Sound. The primary environmental objectives are to utilize source separated organics processing to significantly reduce the environmental impact and to operate an efficient and sustainable waste-to-value facility.   It is scheduled to break ground in Summer of 2013 and be operational in Spring of 2014, with an anticipated 45 new jobs at full build-out.
